The Compass is a tool created to provide neutral, evidence-based guidance to manufacturers on how BIM is likely to impact on their business. The output provides useful supporting information to enable informed decisions on the speed of adoption of the BIM process. Using results from respected cross-industry national and international surveys, the Compass asks a series of questions on product type, sectors, exports and market development to provide tailored guidance relevant to a user’s business. The tool uses the latest data from Barbour ABI to provide a realistic assessment of the level of BIM adoption across a range of market sectors.
Users will also be given an M2 Score, which suggests how quickly and significantly they will be impacted along with an indicative potential commercial risk.
Version 1 of the tool is available as a free download, whereas future versions will be web-based with live updates.
The tool has been created by the Education Working Group of BIM4M2.
